Daryl & Justina | Why Trillium Park is THE Engagement Spot in the City!

The Trillium Park and William G. Davis Trail has to be one of my favourite places to shoot an engagement so far!

First, a little back ground research of the park: Trillium Park opened June 2017 and is a beautiful revitalization of Ontario Place. The trail along the water front is breathtaking, and the William G. Davis Trail is surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful rocks. Located near the Billy Bishop airport, occasionally you can catch a glimpse of airplanes taking off and landing across the skyline.

It’s hard to imagine that the Trillium Park and William G. Davis Trail was anything other than this beautiful conservation. Although it used to be a parking lot, the 7.5 acres of land was converted into a public green space, and now is an important spectacular part of Toronto’s waterfront. The area is now enjoyed by joggers, families, photographers, and everything in-between.

A 1.3-kilometre trail was created through the area, and is named in honour of 1971 Premier Bill Davis, since he was in charge when Ontario Place first opened. The walkway is covered by thousands of indigenous plants, and the trail features beautiful sedimentary rocks and boulders.

The purpose of the park was to emulate the native Ontarian landscape, and was done in collaboration the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. This park beautifully reflects the rich landscape, and the passion of the people who have fought to protect this land.

Shoutout to the high school sweethearts Daryl and Justina for choosing their engagement session at Trillium Park. These lovebirds connected through their common interest of gaming and became best friends quickly. 11 years later, this pair of high school sweethearts are finally tying the knot!

Watching the two of them walk across the boardwalk, laughing and smiling at one another, you could see how their love has only strengthened their friendship. When I asked what they do for fun, they told me they still enjoy gaming together. I guess somethings just never change!

Justina wore a beautiful pastel purple dress that contrasted beautifully with the greys, blues and tans in the background. Daryl wore a white shirt and dark blue pants, complimenting his fiancée’s outfit perfectly.

It was truly an amazing experience to be able to photograph this beautiful couple at the Trillium Park and William G. Davis Trail.
